The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of New Lenox is now accepting applications for the position of:

Entry Level Police Officer

 

Testing is being conducted for an immediate need to fill 1 – 3 openings and to establish a new eligibility list for future hiring needs.

Starting Salary:

$74,614.02

 


Job Requirements:

 

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen and/or an alien admitted for permanent residence and who can produce evidence of intention to become a citizen of the United States.

  • Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.

  • Age Requirement:  Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (9/16/26).  Applicants must be under the age of 35 years on 11/5/25 and at such time as the Final Eligibility Register is posted unless they have been certified and employed as a Full-Time Law Enforcement Officer for a municipality in the United States or are otherwise exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2. 1-6.

  • Character:  Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.  Must not have committed any felony, certain misdemeanors, or crimes involving moral turpitude and be of good moral character pursuant to 50 ILCS 705/6

  • Residence:  At this time the Village of New Lenox does not have an established residency requirement.

  • Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.

  • Vision:  Must possess normal peripheral vision and vision must be correctable to a minimum of 20/40.
