Entry Level Law Enforcement
The Alsip Police Department strives for excellence in Law Enforcement. Their main goal is to keep their community safe for the citizens of Alsip, Illinois.

Testing is being conducted for immediate new hires and to establish an eligibility list for anticipated future hiring needs.
Starting Salary: $81,832
$119,248 after 5 years

Job Requirements:
You must meet the following minimum requirements:

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or an individual who has permanent resident status and is legally authorized to work in the United States. Must under federal law, be authorized to obtain, carry, purchase, or otherwise possess a firearm.

Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.

Age Requirement: Applicant must be under the age of 35 years old at the last date of filing application (5/13/26) and at such time as the final eligibility list is posted, unless exempt by State Statute 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6., which provides in part that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a Certified (full-time) Law Enforcement Officer for a municipality in the United States. Applicants must have attained their 20th birthday by the last date for filing applications (5/13/26). Applicant must be 21 years old to attend the Police Academy.

Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate, or High School Proficiency Statement.

Character: Must not have committed any felony, certain misdemeanors, or crimes involving moral turpitude and be of good moral character pursuant to 50 ILCS 705/6.

Residence: Must acquire Illinois residency within 18-month probationary period.

Testing: Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing. Failure to achieve a minimum passing grand in any examination disqualifies the applicant from further participation.

P.O.W.E.R. Card: Must possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Card issued between the dates of 5/13/25 and 5/13/26 issued by a certified testing agency, at time of application.
