You must meet the following minimum requirements:

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen and/or legal permanent resident of the United States.

Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License

Age Requirement: Applicants MUST have attained their 20th birthday by the last date for filing applications (4/15/26). Applicants must be under the age of 35 years at application deadline (4/15/26).

Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.

Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language fluently.

Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.

Paramedic Certification: Must be a certified Paramedic (EMT-P) licensed to practice in Illinois or an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) currently enrolled in a certified paramedic class.

Firefighter Certification: Must be certified State of Illinois Office of the Fire Marshall for Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter.

Residence: All firefighters shall reside within the State of Illinois within six (6) months of completion of their probation.

CPAT Card: Must possess a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) Certification with Ladder Climb Exercise at the time of application, MUST have been issued between the dates of 4/15/25 and 4/15/26.

Candidates must successfully pass a written examination, oral interview, background investigation, polygraph test, psychological exam, and medical examination.
All individuals meeting eligibility requirements are encouraged to continue with the application process
There is a $15.00 non-refundable application fee. Applications are NOT available at the Alsip Fire Department or Village Hall.
