The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Broadview is now accepting applications for Lateral Hire Police Officer Candidates
Broadview has a “small-town” feel while existing only 13 miles away from the hustle and bustle of Chicago. Broadview’s suburban setting offers respite from the big city, yet its location puts restaurants, sports arenas, shopping centers and convention/meeting facilities just minutes away.

The members of the Broadview Police Department are committed to reducing crime and enhancing the quality of life through an active partnership with the community.
Officers work Twelve-hour shifts, with every other weekend off
(7:00 am – 7:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 7:00 am)
Lateral Entry Officers may qualify for starting pay increases:

Lateral Officers with two years of experience will be paid at the Year 2 tier ($86,905.18)

The maximum amount that a Lateral can be paid in the Village is the Year 3 tier. If a lateral with more years’ experience desires employment with the Village, they must begin at the Year 3 tier. $91,635.20) (as of 5/1/2023, top pay $101,126.10)

Lateral Hires will receive raises consistent with the pay schedule (For example, a lateral hire with three years’ experience will be paid at the Year 4 tier in their second year of service with the Village and will receive a salary increase in line with the following tiers, for each year after that he or she remains as a police officer with the Village).

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen

Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application.

Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.

Experience: Must be a current Full-Time Certified (by the Illinois Law Enforcement Standards and Training Board) Sworn Law Enforcement Officer with a minimum of two (2) years with current department, in a municipality, county, university, or State law enforcement agency in the State of Illinois at time of appointment with Broadview Police Department. Must be in good standing with the ILETSB and your current/former departments.

Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.

Vision: Correctable to 20/20 in both eyes.

Residence: No requirements for residency declared by the Village of Broadview.

Testing: Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing which include a polygraph and psychological examination, background investigation, physical exam and drug screening.
All individuals meeting eligibility requirements are encouraged to
