The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Cahokia is now accepting applications for the position of:

Entry Level Police Officer


Testing is being conducted for immediate new hires and to establish an Eligibility List for future hiring needs


Cahokia is a village in St. Clair County, Illinois. It is part of the Greater St. Louis, the metropolitan area around St. Louis.  The Village of Cahokia is the home of significant colonial and Federal-period buildings listed on the National Register of Historic places.  Cahokia is a small town community rich in history with affordable family oriented amenities.

The mission of the Village of Cahokia Police Department is to serve the community by protecting citizens and property, preventing crime, enforcing laws and maintaining order.  The Police Department provides 24-hour emergency service to its residents 365 days a year.  The force is comprised of 27 full-time sworn officers, including 5 which serve as investigators. Officers are also certified to instruct firearms, self-defense, defensive driving, hazardous materials, and blood-borne pathogens.


Starting Salary:  $61,509.40



Job Requirements:



You must meet the minimum following requirements:


Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen

Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.

Age Requirement:  Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (9/4/19).  Applicants must be under the age of 35 years on 9/4/19 (and when final eligibility list is posted) unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10 – 2. 1-6

Character:  Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.

Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.

Residence:  Must reside within a 25-mile radius of the boundaries of Cahokia within six (6) months of hire. (excluding Missouri)
