The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Glenwood

is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.

 

Testing is being conducted for an immediate hiring need and to establish a new eligibility list for future hiring.

 

 

The Village of Glenwood is conveniently 23 miles south of the City of Chicago Loop.  The Village is primarily surrounded by Cook County Forest Preserves.  Glenwood consists of affordable single-family homes as well as large upscale custom homes.  With a variety of housing options, the community is considered a place where multi-generation families choose to remain.  Glenwood is the product of over 100 years of prosperous growth and development.

The Glenwood Police Department is committed to creating and maintaining a professional and community-oriented police service.  With its diverse Department it is equipped and trained to handle many types of emergency situations.  In addition, their officers are involved in a variety of regional task forces and special units.  At this time, the Village of Glenwood has a large commercial development project in progress and the staff of the Glenwood Police Department have many new opportunities available to them.

 

 

 

 Salary:  $50,910.00 – $79,691.00

 


Job Requirements:

You must meet the minimum requirements:

  •  Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen 

  • Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.

  • Age Requirement:  Applicants must have attained their 21st Birthday at last date for filing application 5/30/18.  Applicants must be under the age of 35 on 5/30/18 and at such time as the Final Eligibility List is posted, unless has been a certified and employed as a full-time Police Officer or unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.

  • Education:  Must have proof of High School diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement AND shall have an Associate’s Degree or at least 60 college credit hours towards a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University OR military service with an honorable discharge OR has been certified as a full-time Police Officer by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board.

  • Character:  Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.

  • P.O.W.E.R. Card:  Must possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Card issued between the dates of 5/23/17 and 5/30/18. (NIPSTA, Triton, Joliet Jr. College).

 

  • Residence:  At this time there is no stated requirements for residency declared by the Village of Glenwood.

  • Testing:  Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing.
