The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Harwood Heights is now accepting applications for the position of:

Entry Level Police Officer

 

Testing is being conducted for multiple anticipated hiring needs and to establish a new eligibility list for future hiring needs.

 

 

The Village of Harwood Heights Police Department is a full-service agency.  The Department is a member agency of the Major Crimes Assistance Team (MCAT), Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) and Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPSA) which consists of mutual aid access, emergency service team officers, and mobile field force officers.  The Police Department is heavily involved in training so officers can reach their full potential within the agency.  They have committed much of their staff to these partnerships because they are professional organizations that can assist them greatly in major incidents and investigations.

Starting Salary: $56,553.55

 

 


Job Requirements:

 

 

You must meet the minimum requirements:

 

  • Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen.

 

  • Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.

 

  • Age Requirement:  Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (7/24/19).  Applicants must be under the age of 35 years on 7/24/2019 and at such time as the Final Eligibility Register is posted. unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10 – 2. 1-6 which provides, in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a certified full-time police officer for a municipality in the United States.

 

  • Education:  Must have proof of a high school diploma, or GED Certificate or high school proficiency statement AND at least 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university.  College credit requirement is waived if applicant has served for at least 24 months of honorable active duty in the United States Armed Forces and has been honorably discharged.

 

  • Residence:  At this time the Village of Harwood Heights does not have an established residency requirement. 

 

  • Vision: Have at least 20/70 vision correctable to 20/20. 

 

  • Testing:  Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing.

 

  • P.O.W.E.R. Card: Must possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. (Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report) Card from a certified testing agency, MUST have been issued between the dates of 7/24/18 and 7/24/19.
