The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Indian Head Park is now accepting applications for the position of:

Police Officer


Incorporated in 1959, the Village of Indian Head Park was named after the Indian Head Golf Course that preceded it and because of the Indian arrowheads that were left by the Potawatomi Tribe.  Building upon its Native American tradition of respect for the environment, the Indian Head Park of today strives to maintain an atmosphere of natural beauty balance with neighborly caring and community involvement.  What once was characterized as the “best kept secret in Chicagoland” continues to be, quite simply, a great place to live.



Testing is being conducted for an immediate need to hire and to establish an Eligibility List for anticipated future hiring needs.


Starting Salary:  $62,730.38

Job Requirements:


You must meet the following minimum requirements:


  • Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S. and provides evidence of intention to become a U.S. Citizen.


  • Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application and at time of hire.


  • Age Requirement:  Applicant must have attained their 21st birthday by 1/19/22 or 20 years of age and successfully completed two years of law enforcement study at an accredited college or university.  Applicants must be under the age of 35 at the last date of filing applications AND when the Final Eligibility Register is posted unless they have been certified and employed as a Full-Time Police Officer in a regularly constituted police department for a municipality in the United States or are otherwise exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.


  • Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement and shall have received a minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university at the time of application or have served two (2) years active duty in the U.S. military with an honorable discharge.


  • Residence:  At this time there are no stated requirements for residency declared by the Village of Indian Head Park


  • Testing:  Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing
