The Board of Police Commissioners for the Village of Lake Villa is now accepting applications for the position of:

Entry Level Police Officer


Testing is being conducted for an immediate new hire and to establish an Eligibility List for future hiring needs


Lake Villa is located in Lake County Illinois.  The population was 8,741 at the 2010 census, up from 5,864 in 2000.  The Lake Villa community is a very special place to reside and raise a family.

Lake County Villa has the finest schools, the two cleanest lakes in the Midwest, hundreds of acres of forest preserve, youth sports programs, Metra commuter train services and an excellent library facility.  Our dedicated community oriented Police, Fire, and Public Works departments are fully equipped and staffed by exceptionally well trained individuals to meet the needs of the community.

The mission of the Lake Villa Police Department is to serve and protect the community and make a positive difference in the lives of their residents through proactive and community based law enforcement efforts.  Members of the department remain responsive to the needs of all citizens and seek solutions to problems through fostering of cooperation, positive contact with the public, and proactive methods as they come together in the fight against criminal activity.



Starting Salary:  $57,153.00



Job Requirements:


You must meet the following requirements:


Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen or alien admitted for permanent residence or lawfully admitted for temporary residence and who produces evidence of intention to become a citizen of the United States.


Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.


Age Requirement:  Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (3/24/21) unless they are 20 and have successfully completed two (2) years of law enforcement studies at an accredited college or university.  Must be under the age of 35 years on 3/24/2021 and when final eligibility register is posted, unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10 – 2. 1-6 which provides, in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a certified full-time Police Officer.


Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.


Residence:  At this time there are no stated requirements for residency declared by the Village of Lake Villa.
