The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the
Village of Melrose Park
is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer
Testing is being conducted for immediate new hires and to establish an Eligibility List for anticipated future hiring needs.

Job Requirements:
You must meet the following minimum requirements:

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License

Age Requirements: Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date of filing applications (9/23/26) must be 21 years old at time of hire. Applicants must be under the age of 35 on 9/23/26 and when the final eligibility list is posted, unless they have been certified and employed as a Full-Time Law Enforcement Officer for a municipality in the United States or are otherwise exempt by State Statute 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1.

Education: Must have proof of a High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement .

Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6

Vision: Eyesight must be corrected to at least 20/20, and must have the ability to distinguish color and be void of night blindness.

Residence: Applicants must reside within the boundaries of Melrose Park within six (6) months after the completion of their probation period.

POWER Card: Must possess a P.O.W.E.R. Card issued between 7/25/25 and time of testing on 10/10/26.

Testing: Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing (written, oral, medical, polygraph and psychological)
