The Board of Police Commissioners for the Village of Minooka is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer

Testing is being conducted for anticipated openings and to establish a new Eligibility List for future hiring needs.

The objective of the Minooka Police Department as a dedicated law enforcement agency is to serve, protect and preserve the lives of their residents and people visiting the village.  The Police Department reduces the opportunity for criminal activity and accidents by being pro-active.  Community policing is a philosophy they take seriously.  The Minooka Police Department has instituted several community projects and programs including crime prevention, neighborhood watch, bicycle patrol, school resource officer, vacation house checks, safe school zones, educational forums for gang and drug awareness, and safety programs for their citizens.  The Police Department is continually striving to improve services to the community.




Starting Salary:  $56,000.00



Job Requirements:


You must meet the minimum requirements:

  • Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License required at the time of hire

  • Age Requirement:  Applicants must be under the age of 35 at the last date for filing applications (8/7/19) and when the Final Eligibility Register is posted unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6 which provides, in part that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a Certified (full-time) Police Officer in a regularly constituted police department or municipality.  Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (8/7/19).

  • Education:  Must have a High School Diploma, GED or High School Proficiency Certificate

  • Character:  Applicant must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6

  • Testing:  Must be able to complete successfully all phases of testing

  • Residence:  At this time there is no stated requirements for residency declared by the Village of Minooka.
