The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Riverdale is now accepting applications for the position of:

Police Officer


Testing is being conducted for an immediate need to hire 5 new officers, and to establish a new Eligibility List for future hiring needs.

Our strategy will be dynamic and flexible. It is designed to respond to short-term demands, while institutionalizing long-term strategies that promote sustainability around community safety, police integrity, accountability, and continuous business improvement.


Starting Salary:  $45,000.00

After Probationary Period:  $51,897.00

*Revised salary and/or bonus information will be disclosed at the close of contract negotiations





Job Requirements:


You must meet the following minimum requirements:


Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen

Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.

Age Requirement: Applicants must be under 35 years of age at the last date of filing applications (10/7/20) and at such time as the Final Eligibility List is posted, unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6., which provides in part that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a Certified (full-time) police officer in a regularly constituted police department of any municipality, regardless of whether the municipality is located in Illinois or any other state. Applicant must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (10/7/20).

Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.

Residence: Officers must live in the state of Illinois within a 30 mile radius of the Village of Riverdale.

Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.

Testing: Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing

P.O.W.E.R. Card: Must possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. (Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report) Card from a certified testing agency, MUST have been issued between the dates of 10/7/19 and 10/7/20.
